decide my paint color
Take a vote on what I am to paint my truck!! 1969 short/wide/box. Black interior, 20 inch wheels with black spokes and a silver lip, and air ride. Body mods are a 2inch cowled hoos and a roll pan, stock front bumper. The color choices are as folows:
#1 HoT Rod black(satin) with hockey stipes in gloss metalic black on hood. These start at the hood and at the back of the hood turn and run down the fenders. These will probably be pinstiped with silver #2 Hugger orange with the same stipe in satin black #3 Metalic Burgandy with clearcoat. I should say I am painting this on my own as my first paint job. I'm leaning toward #1. But let me know what you think. Thanks |

Re: decide my paint color
#2 sounds best to me theres a lot of flat black trucks and just not a huge fan of burgandy

Re: decide my paint color
I like the #2 option too. It would be different and stand out more than the other too.

Re: decide my paint color
#3 will be classy, and look good forever. Add a few chrome accents to finish off the classy look. Mitsubishi and caddilac both have a couple very nice looking burgandy shades that I have noticed. (this is the direction the burb may go one day)
primer (or lookin like primer) has been all the rage, but is already gettin to be old news and I will guess that in 3 years, everyone will wonder what the heck they were thinking. hugger... my personal opinion... it doesn't look good on anything. |

Re: decide my paint color
Go with #2 but no stripes, especially if you are doing this yourself. Also, the lighter the color the easier it is to paint it yourself. I know, I painted my Camaro myself and used PPG base clear in Mazda Miata red. If you really want stripes, have them made in vinyl and that way, if you later hate them you can remove them. Don't go with satin black, will not protect the metal as well and is played out now. Also, not enough contrast with your black rims. Hugger orange is sweet, not that common and chicks will dig it.

Re: decide my paint color
I REALLY like this color burgundy, and would love to see it on a 67-72. My dad's car, BTW.

Out of those choices, I'd go with #2 but without the stripes.

Re: decide my paint color
id really like to see one of these trucks in a light brown metallic/pearl.
maybe im getting old but i really think the color is classy and your truck sounds custom enough to pull it off. probably not a color for the first time painter to try to lay down. flat black would be easy but as said its played out. hugger orange gets my vote

I think any of the 3 would look great, but I'd pass on the stripes.

Re: decide my paint color
The burgundy on Nisson 350z's is metallic and looks good, but it's probably cost $1000 or more a gallon.

Re: decide my paint color
How about this one, gloss black on the upper part, satin black lower with an orange stripe as the break color?
