Who Makes The Best 5/7 Drop Kit???

I was wondering which company out there made the best 5/7" drop kit for an 85 GMC C10. I want a good kit that will ride well. Also if you have used the kit that you refer, can you add a picture also? Thanks!!

I agree with low 84, but their coil springs are too soft IMO. Eibach is the way to go when replacing the coils.

Ryan, are those 15 x 8 Ralleys? what size tires are you running, and how bad do they rub if at all?

jeremy, the are factory 15x8's with 255/60/15's all the way around. they rub very seldomly on the inner fender when you go over a dip in the road real fast or something. but i think it's the perfect size for this drop.

schweet, i just bought a set of 15 x 8 Rallys a few months ago at a swap meet for $20 with perfect center caps and beauty rings. i really like the way your truck looks with them, maybe i wont have to buy expensive wheels after all! BTW, have you ever seen them painted body color, if so how does it look?

do youself a favor and DO NOT use chasis tech parts!

they are not well manufactured. and the company who sells them AIM, a.k.a. shAIM, is a horrible company too. it looks like they have good prices, but they screw you on shipping and then send you the wrong parts and then you have to ship them back and pay restocking fees. i can refer you to some cites and posts where this has been disussed before.

bottum line is you get what you pay for, and this isn't an area where you want to cut corners.

this is all my opinion, but i've done alot of reasearch in this area so take it for what its worth

I've never bought anything from Chassis Tech but I did install a flip kit for a guy a few months ago that supposedly came from them & all I can say is the kit looked like he built it from scratch himself @ home. The axle locator brackets weren't too bad, but what was cheap looking/flimsy as hell were the shock extenders. I've had beer cans that were thicker, and they were actually several pieces welded together. I've bought AIM spindles (years ago) & had no probs what-so-ever, but I would not buy their flip kit. I just got off the phone w/Sporttruck Direct & ordered a flip kit & 1/4" plate c-section w/shock extenders (which are 1/8" thick 1pc stampings according to my salesguy STEVE) for 223$ delivered (I've already got spindles from a previous project). Call him up & talk to them, he treated me very well. 1-888-800-0449, tell him Scot from TX sent ya'.

oops... guess i need to update the sig... after exploring further on the K20 project, i decided it wasnt all that great of an idea. in order to have the truck the way i want it...

$1000 lift kit
$1000 wheels and tires
$2500 for a D60 front axle
plus whatever it would cost me to convert it to crossover steering...

there's at least $5000, and i'd still have a stock motor, trans, transfer case, and rear axle. i can probably almost finish my C10 for $5000. i'm going to do some work on the K20, and sell it for a small profit, which will get put back into the C10.

BTW, with Chassis Tech parts. i just sold my 2.5/4 drop kit. i didnt have any problems with it, its quality, installation, performance or customer service. this was almost 3 years ago, so maybe that's the difference.

What about bell tech drop kits? They're popular here, but you guys never seem to mention them?

belltech is okay. My spindles didnt fit exactly correctly, and after costing $300 you would think they would.
The shackles and hangers are nice.

I also have western chassie flip kit, c-notch, shock extenders. Exellent stuff. Im really impressed. My DJM spindles look like good stuff, and you cant go wrong for $186. The eibach springs are sweet.

I like Belltech's shackle and hanger kit. Their drop shocks suck. As far as front coils, Eibachs are probably the best for performance. They are a progressive rate spring.

So far, I'm well satisfied with Western Chassis drop parts. A quality product.
