It's not a stupid question, not everybody knows, but it stands for Custom Sport Truck.

I don't think I want to see the responses to that one. Isn't this a kid friendly forum?

Re: Very stupid question..Sorry

ok, there's someone asking a legit Q here. I am usually one of the guys goofing off, however, this new member may well be more confused than when he askid... like the guy who wass asking what the corvette option was alll about.

The CST was the top of the line option package for 67 - 70 on pick ups. The name was chainged in 71 to cheyenne, but it was the same RPO number as CST. Blazers kept the CST name through 72.
In many 71 trucks, and some 72 trucks, the option package was still listed as custom sport truck on the SPID (option sheet) but the truck was badged as a Cheyenne.
The CST package evolved over the years, but genericly it included things like bright trim on the windows, bright trim around the tail lights, a chrome front bumper, carpeting, nicer vinal seat covering, vinal covered door panels, bright accents on the knobs on the dash.... stuff like that.
Only in 67 did it include bucket seats.
This package did not include things like A/C, automatic, power steering or brakes, acc guages, tilt column, bigger engines... none of that. It is possible, and spotted on ocasion, to get a CST with an inline 6, 3 speed manual shift, no power steering or brakes.... a stripped down truck.

Re: Very stupid question..Sorry

the Grabowsky Motorcarrige Company was formed in 1902 if memory serves, and was later sold, and eventually ended up in GM's hands. It was many years before it was actually coined GMC, but that is the actual back story. GM's own archives don't give credit, and say it is General Motors Corperation.
So there are two "correct" answers... depending on how correct you want to be.
There's quite a few errors in GM's archives... to include how to decode the VIN on the 67 - 72 chevy trucks.

BTW.. MTtruck... no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't know something, then ask.
We all have to start somewhere, and the details are not always obviouse.

Lol, I just knew Gramaldy wasn't exactly right. I was close though. Great info Longhorn Man. I just know that many a GMC owner has no idea of the name.

Longhorn Man, Thanks for clearing that up on the CST and whatnot.

Now I know that it was the top of the line package.
Thanks. =)

Hey Longhorn Man, Just out of curiosity, I googled it and found that Max Grabowsky started Rapid Motor Vehicle Company in 1902 and the company was purchased by William Durant (GM) in 1909. There was another company purchased by Durant (GM) around the same time called Reliance Motor Comany and possibly another one called Randolph Truck was also purchased by Durant. The combination of these companies is apparantly what became GMC. My question is where did you find the information on Grabowsky Motorcarrige Company? I googled that one too and it just kept referring me back to the Rapid and Reliance companies??? Maybe it's a conspiricy and GM is covering up the real facts.
