Long distance, Best in Show

Edmond Wip and his girlfriend Antoinette are on a great roadtrip with thier 71 Longhorn truck. They have traveled 1600 kilometers (almost 1000 miles) one way just to get here. The Netherlands to Sweden.

At the CCW event ( http://www.classiccarweek.com/ ) sorry no English version of that site, they got the Long distance award. They are so much worth that I think. They got some free gasoline checks from a Swedish gasstation which they can not use because thier truck is LPG converted.
Well, they will use the gasoline checks (good for 5 years) another year when they take thier Camaro over here.

And I was very happy to win the first price in the class for "commercial vehicles" which the pickups were placed in. I also won the "Best in Show", I was really surpriced and happy over that. It is really a big thing over here.

Here's some pic's, there are more picīs to come from Edmond I guess.

even overseas, board members love meeting board members!
I've wondered where he has been hiding... I don't recall seeing him log on here much over the last few years. Good to see he (they) are doing well and having fun in there classics.

A Swedish guy from Sweden ....hmmm, who woulda thunk it?

I love both the trucks but particularly the yellow and white one. Can't quite tell...which is the longhorn? Which one is yours 68 50th?

Edit: Upon further inspection I think I can see for sure now that the yellow and white one is definitly not a Longhorn. Congrats on best of show...that color combo is my favorite and the one that got me hooked on these trucks.

I'm sure Edmond will chime in here as soon as he can, don't know if he have a internet connection on his trip.

The yellow/white is mine and the blue one is Edmonds Longhorn.
I'm with you, I saw a yellow/white truck of these years on a US trip back in 98 or so. Since that day I got that "must have one" feeling. Thanks for the congrats.

Re: Long distance, Best in Show

The wife and I were in Stockholm (Gamla Stan to be specific) for a few days last year. We saw a few classic trucks, an old Caddy, and a few others while out walking around the town. Most were well kept up.

In contrast, we spent a week in Denmark prior to this and saw NO classic cars of any kind! Not one! Everything was very small, inexpensive "basic transportation" type vehicles. I kept thinking that if we drove HALF the number of small cars that they do, our gas prices would have to drop by about a buck a gallon!

Re: Long distance, Best in Show

Thank you for posting the pictures Mats!!
Yes I have Internet now, found a Mcdonald with a free hot-spot connection. I just wanted to read this thread

It's been a challenge to get here on only LPG but we did it!
LPG is not widely available in Sweden so the trip has to be carefully planned
They have about 10 stations were you can buy LPG in th whole of Sweden.

I've been lurking around the site almost weekly Longhornman, but not much active posting.

I will post some pictures when we get home later in the week.

Cya,
Edmond & Antoinette
