I think that is a hold down for a 50's-70's passenger car jack. Corvettes used one like that except the spring was about half that long.

Yeah, it goes in there somewhere, somehow. My jack broke, so I pulled all the cr*p out and insulated the corner, so I can't tell you exactly where it goes.

That hold down isn't for our trucks....

x 2. Both of my trucks have the factory jack, and the hold down is a lot shorter than that one pictured

Isn't the spring for a 67-68 a long spring like this?, later ones use a much shorter spring. What about a blazer/burb spring?

This IS definately out of our trucks. I have an early 67 and have the same thing. Here is a picture.
