Re: im inlove =D(kicker subs)

they are loud but poo sounding?

that's my opinion anyway for 90% of their product.

I have gotten a solobaric to sound good, but to do so you need a large sealed box... something around 1.5 cubic feet per sub, and you need a really good amp with lots of onboard capacitance becasue they are power hungry buggers.

i put a kicker 1200.1 in my buddies car (dial back to only 400w) with a single solobaric L5 12 and sealed his ported 1.5 ft3 box. it actually sounds very decent.

Re: im inlove =D(kicker subs)

i run KICKER......in pretty much every toy i own and my home. fixen to be running a MX700.5 (marine 5 channel amp), 6" marine components for the doors, and a couple 8" cvr subs, and a set of KMT6's out back. you think wow that boat is gonna sound nice....but its all for my 4x4, just in case i see any water in the cab....better safe than sorry .

i just got done taking out two cvr 8" subs out of our 02' grand pre (traded car in took stereo out). i ran them on a zx700.5 which gave each of them about 210watts a sub, and a bandpass box firing threw the center arm rest and it did a 137db on an TERM LAB meter.......not bad for two little 8's

let me know if you need any info, i bet i might know a thing or two (read sig)

as for the poo committ goes i perfectly understand to each his own opinion. i wish we could make everyone happy. but its also my "profession" and my opion to say a lot of setups are done incorrectly/wrong sub for the sound/and or wrong amp for sub/bad power supply for the setup/wrong box for the sub/ these are what can make ANY company sound/perform like poo....trust me i hear it 8hrs a day, all about the good, the bad, and the ugly.

l8r.....

i dont complain about kickers.. now that their prices are descent..
but....
you gotta tune them the right way.. otherwise you have a ton of bass and an **** load of distortion

Re: im inlove =D(kicker subs)

here is our old set up we did here in house with our WARHORSE van.......i know what you mean about being tooooo bass heavy like you said set stuff up correctly and you get zero distortion (Oscilloscope)

i will try and get some photos of the new setup (12) 15" subs

this is what you see here: (4) solo X 18" subs, (2) warhorse amps, (2) ZX650.4, (4) sets of ss components, and enough power wire, speaker, and rca's to rewire a small town

Re: im inlove =D(kicker subs)

I used to run just 1 12" Kicker CVX with a 700 Watt kicker amp.. That was PLENTY for me. that CVX was loud.
