Radiator support interchange?

Will a 57 6400 radiator support and radiator fit a 55 3100? What about the hood? Found a real clean one for parts but dont want to buy it if these parts wont interchange.

Re: Radiator support interchange?

I bought a 2 ton 57 for parts. I think the only parts that wont interchange are the grill, upper and lower grill supports, and fenders.

Inner fenders, hood, cab, and I think radiator support are the same.

See if anyone else can add to this.

Re: Radiator support interchange?

The radiator for the big truck is taller and thicker. It will clear the hood, but requires the flange on the splash pan to be moved forward for clearance. Also, the brace across the front at the top of the radiator needs cut. On my friend's truck the brace was cut out completely. It could be trimmed, leaving just the lowest part of the brace.

I stacked them up side by side and the 59 1/2 ton is the same height as the 56 1-1/2 ton. The big truck radiator is 1" thicker and about 1.5 wide on both side. From a trial fit I know it mounts in the 1/2 ton radiator support using the stock holes. Maybe the taller one came from COE or even bigger truck??
