Re: ive seen this to much now !!

Saw a 68 in a guy's yard a year or so ago and pulled in the drive because I noticed he had a trailer like that beside his fence. I wanted to buy the "trailer". Caught him at home one day and asked him about selling it, but he didn't wanna part with it. It was a pretty nice shortbed and he was using it as a trailer??? I totally get where you are coming from.

Re: ive seen this to much now !!

I have one made out of a Blazer tub!! I bought it just for the elusive rust free Blazer bedsides!! No repops and NOS will run you $2500 for a pair!! I got the trailer for MUCH LESS than that!

Buy em if you can otherwise they are just a trailer!?

Re: ive seen this to much now !!

Back when I had my 69 short/step and wanted to convert to fleet I used to try to buy every one of those I found. There are a LOT of them around here. Unfortunatley every owner I talked to either didn't want to sell or knew what he had ...$$$

Re: ive seen this to much now !!

OK, someone has to play Devil's Advocate here...

What's the likelihood that someone had access to a wrecked 67-72.... cab, fenders, entire front end smashed to smithereens but rear half of the truck intact? Got handed lemons and made lemonade in the form of a very serviceable trailer, incidentally one that would look fantastic towed behind a 67-72 truck. I'd bet at least a few of these trailers came into existence under similar circumstances.
Sorry, I don't share the outrage....

Re: ive seen this to much now !!

And really?? You guys are all heartbroken about this?? I've seen a THOUSAND things on this forum that p*** me off a LOT more than that... What about the guys bastardizing long beds into short beds?? 3/4 tons into "5 lug half tons", and other ways of just completely taking the "truck" out of the truck?! My feeling is, you have a 3/4 or 1 ton truck that is tough as nails. Don't take the tough out of it. Others feel they are doing the truck justice by doing this. It's all opinion.

Let them have their trailers. They're a lot better than a store bought utility trailer and will last for 200 years...
