Exclamation New front end and smooth dash ?'s

Well everybody Im wanting to put a newer front end on the 86, like one off of a 89 sub. I think. Up to what year will fit on our trucks? what price range should i be looking for one at the junkyard? Can I use my exsisting fenders or do I need to get the ones for the suburban? Also im wanting to smooth my dash, do i fill the cracks with bondo or do i need a real good dash? I know im gonna need to put down the fiberglass materials but what else needs to be done? Thanks in advance for any answers.

any year 89-91 will work, you can use your existing fenders, but i found it easier to do the entire clip, easier to line stuff up as well, i have seen them from core support, grilles and lights from 150 to full clips for 400, so somewhere between there id guess, and for cracks, i used dynaglass, havent gottent he rest done yet tho

no prob, hope u find what your looking for, if you do a full clip, take the front tires off, lol, we couldnt get it on, then it clicked to remove them, also, tape up the edges of your doors, as not to chip them, and id also recommend, if you haave a/c, remove it as well, if its charged, then just be very careful, a few buddies will make the job much easier

Re: New front end and smooth dash ?'s

For your dash. If you want the stock look, just smooth, then take a sander to yours. Fill your cracks that are there, and sand the whole thing with a 280 grit or 320 grit and prime it. Sand the primer till it is straight and smooth. Then paint. I have done this many times on alot of different vehicles and they turn out good. We did one on a Camaro that we did racing stripes on the car and did them on the dash too. That was a big PITA but it looked kinda cool when we were done. Good luck to you.

Oh, and watch on Craigslist for a crew cab or suburban that is getting parted out in your area. Go over there, and yank the whole clip.

Great looking truck.

Is that a steel cowl hood or fiberglass? Do you know what brand it is?

I don't think anybody but Goodmark makes a steel cowl hood.

Does anybody out there know of another steel cowl hood manufacturer?

Watch Craigslist. Or if you make a drive up here I have one you could buy cheap. But its not the complete clip. It is rad support, grill, lights, harness, etc.

Re: New front end and smooth dash ?'s

Just keep searching Rollinsqrbdy. You'll find one. I got mine for a whopping $40 bucks off of craigslist. I was looking for a serp setup for the engine I was building and I just stumbled upon it. Granted, it has a well used grille, lights and mouldings but I the core it what you're really after. I didn't change my fenders or hood. I just loosened my fenders and pulled them out a little. It's a tight fit but it can be done in about an hour. Good luck.
