98+ front disc brakes for older S10's
My Jimmy has a problem with heavy braking. Towing, fast speed and hard braking shutter on the front discs. The 255/60R17 wheels don't help either. 98+ models received a dual piston caliper. The upgraded parts are bolt on for older models. I'm going to start collecting parts for this upgrade. I'll be using this page as a guide.

Hey, I had not noticed the picture. Cool!! I have new ball joints on my Jimmy. I don't want to ruin the covers on the job. I'll have to rig something like that to remove the stock spindals!

Re: 98+ front disc brakes for older S10's
I just seen a blazer in the U-pull-it yard a couple weeks ago that had those brakes. I passed it up for 2 reasons. It had a disc brake rearend that I wanted more, and I don't care for those sealed "unit bearing hubs".
I thought about grabbing the calipers to see if I could adapt them the the older spindles, but didn't have time after I removed the rearend...LOL Anybody tried swapping the dp calipers onto the older spindles?

I think the rotor sizes are bigger for 98+ models. I'm sure if there was a away someone has done it.

I think you're right, they looked bigger to me, but I didn't measure them.

Re: 98+ front disc brakes for older S10's
I've read the rotors are 0.5" bigger. When I find some, I'll measure them against the stock rotors.
