3 vs. 4 row radiator

Looking for some info on the difference between a 3 an 4 row radiator, is more better? Also is a 350 supposed to have a six blade fan with a clutch? Thanks in advance.

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

a clutch is the best way to go IMO.
The old brass/copper rads had 4 row as a poplular option. It does help cool, but by the time the incoming air gets to the 4th row, it is pretty warm and does little to cool the \last row. It does add to the cooling system capacity which helps keep things a little more stable.

A/c trucks or with towing option all hand 7 blade fans with clutch also 4 core rads. If your gonna get a new rad get a 4 core. You,ll be glad you did.

My A/C truck came with the 7-blade clutch fan, but had a 2-row radiator (never overheated btw).... since swapped for a 4-row.

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

You'll need the upper and lower mounts if you switch to a 4 row.

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

I would upgrade to the 4 row if you have that option even though the 3 row will probably get the job done if you are not driving in a hot climate and you are not creating more heat than is normal.

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

4 row it is, it been running warm with the 2 row and 4 blade fan, are the water pumps the same for the bolt pattern or do I have to swap the pump as well?

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

Water pump pattern should be same on all fans. Some water pumps, however, have both bolt patterns on them making it easier to swap different pulleys on.

Re: 3 vs. 4 row radiator

the bolt pattern is *supposed to be* specific to short pumps or long pumps.
