TF with block hugger headers?

Anyone have pics of a v8 task force truck with the stock frame and steering box running block hugger shorty style headers? I would like to see how much clearance there is between the headers and the steering box. Thank you!

Re: TF with block hugger headers?

Hey it's not a TF but we are building a AD with a big block and have block huggers on it. The only thing is that we are running the Mustang 2 stuff. Take a look at my build thread for some pictures.

Thats cool , but it doesn't really help. I need to see what the clearance is on a stock framed/suspension 1955-1959 truck running a small block v8 and a STOCK steering box. Specifically how much room between the headers and the stock steering box. Anyone??

Re: TF with block hugger headers?

With all the room in a TF engine bay why would you want to restrict your motor to block huggers?

I have a 58 next in line which will have a small block in it with full length headers which provide better performance than the shorty headers.

I have also found out from experience on a 54 with the swept back shorties that they can be difficult to plumb as the drivers side collector is lower than the right side. On some header brands this can make the turn rather tight and require the pipes to be rather low instead of tucked up. Of course this is predicated on how low your motor is mounted.

If the issue is the stock steering box clearance you should have plenty.

Sorry no pics of the 58 mockup though.

I also came across this which looks like it should answer your question.

This is a nicely done truck.

I love the Heineken radiator overflow on that truck.
