Re: GM Factory pwr windows/lock harness
those plugs are all different and will only plug in certain spots, the lock power should only plug into the constant hot port on the fuse block, the window power will only plug into a ignition switched port on the fuse block, and the black (ground) goes to a metal terminal attached to the body on the left beside the cluster, should be 6 places to plug in and you should see some other black wires with the same type plug already plugged in.
sorry, I don't remember which colors are what on the power side, but like I said they will only plug in where they belong

Re: GM Factory pwr windows/lock harness
Would a harness be different from a 82 to a 85??? Truck is a 82, harness is from a 85, is this where my problem lies????

Re: GM Factory pwr windows/lock harness
I wouldn't think so, I have an '80 and got a harness from an '85...I haven't installed it yet, but I checked and my '80 has the places to plug in the '85 harness

Re: GM Factory pwr windows/lock harness
The black should go to the ground. The red(orange) will go to the constant hot on the fuse block for the locks, and the blue goes to an ignition controled on the fuse block for the windows. The fuse block should have print on it telling what is what. Sometimes they will abrevate the words. The owners manual will also tell you. I'll check mine if I can scan it I'll post again.
Here it is http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...pfuseblock.jpg Sorry it is not clearer. If you look in the center of your block second row down from the top you will see a hole marked WDO. I believe that is where you plug in the window power wire to confirm this use a test light and with the key on pull the 30 PWR WDO amp breaker and the light should go out. If it does your cool. On the door locks wire. On the far right you'll have 3 places to plug in for the power door locks marked P inthe diagram. Again hook up a test light (it should be on)and then pull the other 30 amp breaker and the light should go out. If it does your in like flynn. Hope this helps.

Re: GM Factory pwr windows/lock harness
here is what mine looks like (not mine I just found the pic online and marked it with paint)
notice the 3 spots (on the left circled in yellow) to plug into that are marked IGN, and the 2 spots (bottom middle circled in red) to plug into marked BAT, 2 spots (circled in green) marked ACCY, and one unidentified spot (circled in light blue) that could possibly be for your windows. All these recepticles are shaped differently, the plug ends on your wires will only plug into the spot that they belong. there is one at the bottom that i didn't circle that is marked CPS...not sure what that is if your fuse panel isn't like this...maybe you have an after-market harness?
