Is slamming a 4x2 pickup regional?

I think so. I like it personally, and always have thought a slammed 4x2 looks killer if done right. Even if it is a rat, or pristine show quality truck, they seem to be *****in. I personally have never done it and probably won't because of what I have to use my truck for, but still like it.

Ok, now onto the topic at hand!

I never see them here in New Mexico anymore. Never got real popular here, at most, and I look at other vehicles a lot! Only use to see them about once a month, and at that usually the same few trucks. I have noticed when I travel to other states, especially those without a bunch of mountains, there are tons of them around.

It might be regional as you suggested. One thing to consider is the roads. If your roads are not in good condition, this isn't conducive to having a really low truck.

I thought that too, but here in NM we have more lowrider cars than pretty much anywhere else on Earth! Plus the crappiest street maintainence on Earth as well. So, the thing about the roads is probably not it. Another theory I had about the trucks is that I think anyone pretty much, with a pickup needs it for ranch or land type you know, pick up type stuff and not a s a daily driver boulavard cruiser. And I think that if someone totally slams a pickup it looses at least some if not all of it's real world use other than street duty.

In fact, I have only seen one Dually slammed here in the state and all it did was haul a drag car to and from and was a street hauler.

I agree with the fact that if you slam a truck it losses it's functionality. I've dropped mine and want to go lower. But I know I'll be needing it for hauling stuff. It doesn't do any good to have a truck if you can't load it up. Guess I should buy another truck!!!!

I see what you mean 78BO! Now one thing about general hauling, is as long as it isn't totally up against the max gross weight i think the truck will be somewhat usefull when dropped to a point. In fact this leads me to another thought. you have all seen the (what we call them here) Tijuanna Taxi's, those guy's who put the totally wrong offset wheels on their trucks with low profile tyres that are always edge rolled, they still seem to use their trucks for everything it was used for before the weird stick out skateboard wheels and tyres. And that wheel tyre combo does lower the ride height quite a bit.

I would add helper bags it will give allow you to haul as much as stock maybe more if your wheels and tires can hold the weight, my truck lowered about 6-8 and scrapes and bottoms out couple times just depending on the roads

I guess that this point is totally moot because since here we can buy a beater good running 73~87 pickup for hauling work for under a grand easy. If I had bought both mine outright, Id only be out about a grand total.

Hey Sniper ,
I just passed a nice looking Yellow and dropped 85-86 last week when I went from Farmington towards Albuquerque . I did notice most of what I seen was stock height but maybe it is catching on in your area .

I use my truck for work and play because it's all I have, and in the near future I might add helper bags and a hidden hitch

I think it came and went, and maybe coming back. If i find a nice 4x2 that is 1/2 ton, I am going to do it and keep the two C20s for heavy duty ranch work. I am putting a clutch in the 74 this week, and doing a tune up and going to start driving it every day for a while while I do a bunch of l;ittle prevfentive stuff to my daily driver which is a 1985 BMW M535i....which is the most reliable car I have ever had. I love the old 74 beater and will not make it pretty as it has soo much of a story to tell from it's war wounds. I will only replace the split rims which it still has, and put on some stock modern alloys I got cheap and good tyres.

I never liked stock suspension on my trucks. Nothing wrong with it, I just don't want to have what everyone else has. I've lifted most of the 4X4's I've owned and lowered most of the 2WD's. I like my trucks to have a little attitude. I'm probobly gonna lower my 86 4/6. The only thing it's gonna haul is a$$!

Most anything you can do with a stock suspension 1/2 ton you can do with a truck that is lowered with a notch and helper bags
