trailing arm crossmember?
If I am going to do a 5" + drop in the rear do I need a trailing arm crossmember? I have a 66 longbed with split drive shaft. ECE says theirs is for shortbed with single drive shaft.

The aftermarket units are typically for swb trucks but could be used on a lwb truck. Porterbuilts has provisions for a carrier bearing so it might be worth checking w/him on compatability.

Re: trailing arm crossmember?
People also do them a lot for exhaust clearance on lowered trucks...allowing you to run your exhaust through your crossmember...I am going to do that with the factory crossmember by welding in round pipe.
