Thiftmaster S10 build
We have been workin on this truck on and off for the last few years. When we get caught up we piddle with it. Blown 355 under the hood,TH400, Air ride, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 linked rear, 20s and 22s. In the interior we are going with a modified 57 Chevy Car dash, Custom sheet metal in the engine compartment. This s10 conversion has been a big challange to get the gaps right. Right now we are boxing in the frame and welding it up. Hope to be spraying some paint soon! We have changed up a bunch of it so some pics are old

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
Im using a S10 extended car early 80s. As far as more pics, sure Ill try and get you some but the truck is apart right now trying to get ready for paint. The running board brckets have been the hardest part due to trying to get them to make all the sheetmetal line up correctly. But I think and hope we have it now. As far as core support that was another challange due to the whole front end pretty much using it to mount up.Im a firm beleiver that if was ever to do it again, we would use the s10 but only if building a rat rod. Been way to much work for it to have paint. Ill get some core support pics this weekend and running board mount pics. The instrument cluster is a 57 chevy car but the rest is built from scratch! thanks for all the complients!

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
Did you change the front fenders or are they the 54-55 1st?

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
I changed the front fenders as well. If the grill would have been avail. when I started I would have kept the 54 -55 front just because it was different.
I need to check the turning radius again once assemebled. I think I will have to have it aired up a lil more when turning sharp now. I put bigger brakes on it and Tubular A Arms and it pused the wheel out a lil farther. When I had the stock S10 stuff on it, the thing would turn very good with the bumper about a 1 inch off the ground. I think I lost a little bit though now that the tire is out a little farther. Im runnin a 20x8.5 on the front with a 255/35/20 tire. I could possibly run a narrower tire down the road. I ran a 305/40/22 on the rear and still have a ton of room. Will prolly go with a 325 tire if and When I burn these off! HEHE

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
Got some more frame work and firewall work done this past weekend. Gettin closer and closer. IT has been a real chore boxing in this frame. All we have left now is to add the cross braces and finish up the weld out and ground down of the runnin board mounts. We are going to also add some more cosmetics to the frame. We are getting there though!

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
Thanks for the additional pics!
Did you section the original running board mounts to fit them on the wider frame? Kinda looks like you did to retain the original rivet flange up against the frame but I wan't sure. Nice work!

Re: Thiftmaster S10 build
Wow looking good. I feel the same way.....the s-10 rute is way to much work for paint. Mine would be in paint by now if it wasnt for the s 10 idea. I like the 20/ 22 combo.
