on my 71 my brake lights wont come on and all the bulbs are good and everything checks out with my test light my blinkers dont work either but the tailligts come on when i turn the lights on

Assuming the fuses are good and you have power at the brake light switch I would consider the signal switch assembly next.

Either what Gordo said, or you have the hazard button pushed and no flasher for it... Go make sure the button is pulled out.

I just went thru this last month. Replaced the turn signal switch and harness adapter ($29 at the dealer) works great now!
