Air bag help on stepside
Hi i got a 70 stepside im thinking of adding air bags with a small step notch in the back and 2 inch lowering blocks . I did a little research on other threads posted here and found a post that said with a factory trailing arms that will hit the frame and leave my frame roughly 5 inches off the ground (i dont remember the tire size there). I measured today and as far as i can tell i have 22 inches from the bottom of the frame just above the springs to the top of the inside rear fender the trailing arms are 3 inches and my tires are 30 inches tall my main goal is to have the tires to tuck up in the fenders as much as possible without modifying the fenders. Is there any thing im misssing am i really far off any other suggestions. Thanks alot for all replies

Re: Air bag help on stepside
I'm not really sure what your question is. I understand you want to bag on trailing arms with a small notch,... with a 30" tall tire.
Here's all I can tell you without YOU changing any part of your proposed set-up: You limiting factor is your tire size and your fender height. Just go measure the distance from the top of the tire to the inside of the stepside fender. That is all you can drop your truck. Period. (Just say 6") Then measure the distance from the axle tube to the frame. That has to be at least 6" with the notch installed. You should be able to replace your coil spring with a quality air bag, (Firestone, Re-6 or 7 Slams, or some Dominators from AirLift),... And accomplish this drop with the addition of a 2" block. You will also need to look at the "center section" of the rearend. How close is it to the bed floor? Right now it will need to go up the "hypothetical 6" that we assumed earlier. Now,... get out that tape measure and see what you actually have. You may have to adjust your tire height to accomplish what you want. Keep us posted!

Re: Air bag help on stepside
That is what my question how much drop do you get with a bolt in c notch and drop blocks are will a small step notch be more appropriat i dont want a giant nose dive in the front right now i got 4 inch drop springs and 3 inches between the top of the tire and the fender edge as far as the floor goes it wont be an issue i can raise it as needed i want a stepside with a raised floor with a tinted bed liner

Re: Air bag help on stepside
I have a bolt in C-notch in my blazer but I'm running a 295/40-20 on the rear. Maybe 29" tall.
I had to put a tall bumpstop in the notch to keep the rearend off the floor. (I didn't want to cut the floor) Yours will be different if you raise the floor. Anyway max drop with a bolt in c-notch would be approx. 8". 6" spring plus a 2" block.
