'67 Intermediate Steering Shaft Removal

How does it come apart where it attaches to the steering column? There is no bell like on the later models and my book doesn't cover anything else.

There is a clamp with a big washer and a spring, which I have loosened but the shaft won't come out of the bottom of the column.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

67 & 68 shaft is one piece from gear box to steering wheel.

Re: '67 Intermediate Steering Shaft Removal

Dang. I'm trying to do the 'shorten the steering column' thing and I can't get the collapsible part to slide together. So I guess I'll have to remove the entire column?

Re: '67 Intermediate Steering Shaft Removal

The shaft will not collapse since it is one piece. You will want to get a shaft and shaft extension out of a 69-72 column so removing the column is needed. (Or get the the whole column and extension).
