Re: how to body drop?

A quick summary of the process:
Measure, plan, measure, mark your moves, measure, ATTACK!!
Cut the floor loose form the rest of the body. (keeping things supported of course)
Drop the body down 'X' inches. (the desired amount of drop)
Build braces to re connect the body to the floor. (like was stock)
Fill the gap. Make it look good, because it will be visible to most people.

This is a very quick and simple "how to" but it gets you the idea. A body drop can get pretty complicated so take your time. You will have to take in to account things like the radiator support, and fender mounts need to be adjusted to match the cab. You will need to relocate your steering column, and maybe the pedals. Your seat brackets may need to be moved a bit. You may need to rewire some areas too after the drop. I hope this helps you some. Good luck! Feel free to ask me anything you want and I will do my part to try to help you anytime.

Re: how to body drop?

you could do a stock floor body drop, were you lower the body mounts on the frame and modify the mounts on cab

Re: how to body drop?

Or just do a z and chop the bottom of the frame off (and box it of course). This would require the least amount of headaches, IMO.

my mounts are as high as my frame. so my body would hit the frame.

Re: how to body drop?

There are a lot of professional shops that will not even attempt a body drop. We may be able to get this moved over to the Body & Paint board to see what the other guys' opinions are on how to do it. But, there is no "easy way".
