Re: what transmission
It means a turbo 350 with a lock up converter. GM's first try at a turbo trans overdrive...

Re: what transmission
The trans will have this electrical plug on the drivers side.

Re: what transmission
I have a 350C in my 80 short bed...it has a 4 connector plug in it though (later model).
It will not hurt the transmission to run it with out the lock up converter hooked up... I did manage to get mine hooked up recently though. search the faq section for 350C, there is lots of info about hooking them up. from the factory there was a vacuum switch mounted on the fire-wall above and behind the brake booster that would disengage the converter when the gas pedal is mashed and the vacuum drops, and an extra set of contacts on the brake light switch that disengages the converter when you apply the brakes.

Re: what transmission
NOT an overdrive.
350C is a turbo 350 with a lock up converter. Basically at highway speeds the converter slips a little bit. By putting in a small hydraulic clutch the slip can be eliminated generating 3-5% less heat and improving gas mileage a little. If it is a 350C than a regular 350 will bolt in place, just won't have a spot for the wire. 350's are cheap and cheap to rebuild too.

Re: what transmission
drive at a moderate to low throttle, it will go first to second shift, then second to third then shortly after the shift to third you will feel another small "shift" as the converter locks...it is easy to miss unless you are at idle or just off idle.

Re: what transmission
Yo! I have a rebuild manual for the TH350/TH350C if ya need pics. The TH350 is a good tranny and was used extensively,...my '76 Camaro and my old '73 4x4 flatbed came with one as did most std-duty auto Chevys of the period.
