Re: how do i get the ignition tumbler out??!!!??!

Tighten it back up if you can. There should be a small hole next to the key slot. Put the key in, and insert a paper clip in that little hole. Turn the key (can't remember which way, try both) and it should turn then pull out.

Re: how do i get the ignition tumbler out??!!!??!

once you get the bezel tight, put key in, paper clip in hand, turn key to accessory put the paper clip, and turn it a bit more to the left, while pulling out on the lock cyl

same thing with my truck, it is handy though after you start your truck but then have to run back inside for something cause you dont have to turn it off to get your house key! ill be watching to see if anyone has a solution, ive been meaning to do something about this before my truck gets stolen!

Re: how do i get the ignition tumbler out??!!!??!

Well, if 'anything' will fit in the hole and turn it, then that's what you would use to get it out. If you don't have a key and nothing else will turn it, then I don't know. PM LocDoc, he'd probably know.

Usually you can find an old worn GM key that will turn the tumbler on these trucks. I never throw an old key away as it has saved my bacon more than once over the years.

I think LocDoc said in another thread that the passenger door key should be the same as the original ignition key if the tumble hasn't been replaced. In that case you can pull the lock out of the passenger door and take it to a locksmith and have new keys made.

As far as getting the ignition tumbler out read this post...

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=358919

If your new lock cylinder is made overseas it may not have any tumblers in it. Thats why anything will turn it. On the original lock cylinders it would either be that the tumblers are stuck, bent, worn out, or someone may have removed them. The tumblers are what keeps the lock cylinder from turning unless the key is inserted.

I bought the matching door locks and ignition from GMC Paul's.
One key works all.
I'm happy with it.
