Re: good deal

That does look like a decent deal. I have never had a problem driving a three-on-the-tree. I think they are cool actually. You sure don't see them every day.

Re: good deal

3 on the tree......been a while. Worst thing about these column shifters is the enevitable wear that makes shifting "fun" from time to time. My '65 would occasionally get hung in 1st when I was speed-shifting to second. Only recourse was to stop the truck, slowly but deliberately pull the shifter back down into 1st, then shift carefully and deliberately into 2nd when it was time.

Column shifters are nothing to be worried about. Remember, the pattern is an "H". Reverse is toward you and up. First is the bottom left leg of the H. Second is away and up. 3rd is away and down.

I'd buy it.

Re: good deal

I may have to check into that truck. I love 3 on the tree cause I grew up listening to those trucks. When I was a kid there were a ton of Chevy truck's with 6's and 3 on the tree, but listening to a small block with 3 on the tree pull away from a light or down shifting was music to my ears when was 10 years old.

That'd be great 1800 mile trip from San Antonio back home listening to that samll block purr on the Interstate.

Re: good deal

When I bought my '65, in June of '76, I had duals put on it to replace the stock single exhaust system. Glass packs and straight out the back with 2-inch all the way. Loved to listen to those pipes burbleing when I let off of the gas! Rapped 'em off one day at work and ended up replacing the water pump and getting the radiator recored.....when the fan belt got a twist in it and just wasn't quite long enough any more. That 4-row core radiator (it was a factory A/C truck) had to be repaired because of the pinholes that were discovered when I took it to be cleaned while the water pump was being changed (by me). Live and learn.

But, I loved listening to some glass packs as it popped and burbled.....
