Bouncing...

Ok, I did t a 2/4 drop springs on my 72. Now, the ride in the rear is firm, but the front bounces quite a bit. It is more like there is no shocks on this thing at all. So, I only changed the springs and the shocks were changed a few years back. Do you think that I need new shocks? Also, with only a 2" drop on the front, will I now need shock relocators?

Help!!

Re: Bouncing...

you won't need relocators in the front, but lowering the front may have caused your shocks to wear out. My truck doesn't bounce at all.

Re: Bouncing...

If you lowered the front 2 inches with springs, you'll need shocks that are 2 inches shorter. If you lowered it with spindles, the shocks stay the same length. In the rear, if you use shock relocators, you'll be restoring the angle of the shocks and that will help it ride better. When you lowered the rear, the angle of the shocks became more severe and that keeps them from working correctly. The ride in the back will be more harsh. It isn't as noticeable with the coils, but a leaf sprung rear end will really show how much more rough it can get....trust me. KYB, ToxicShocks and others are good for dropped suspensions. If you are good friends with someone at a parts store, and they don't mind doing a little book work, you can find shocks that will be the right length and have the right ends on them. The paper parts manuals at NAPA (for instance) are great for this purpose.

Re: Bouncing...

I cut my springs up front 2.5" and use the same shocks. No bounce at all. maybe the shocks are worn out
