Torqu Converter Question
Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to install a rebuilt turbo 400 in my 71 GMC 3500 with a big block 402. I need to know what torque converter to get for it. The local Napa doesn't list one for a big block. Will the one they list for a 350 SB be strong enough for towing my boat? Thanks, Dan

Re: Torqu Converter Question
It should be but you can also just grab a TCI one from summit, get like a 2000 Rpm stall which is a little higher than stock and will help with take off without being extreme. it should also be more than able to take the abuse.

Re: Torqu Converter Question
Thanks,
This will help me a lot. Wow the prices on those are very high for my budget. I didn't spend that much on the tranny. Guess I'll go stock. Dan

Re: Torqu Converter Question
when getting big block truck parts from NAPA, just tell them it's a 1/2 ton, there computers will recognise it then.
That, or find the old guy there who remembers how to use the books. |
