New shackles, No change?
I just put on some DJM 2" shackles. They weren't hard to do. The problem is my truck seems no lower than before. Anybody else have this problem?

Re: New shackles, No change?
stick the old shackle next to the new one... possibly, a P.O. already did the swap?
also, your shock might be bottomed out

Re: New shackles, No change?
Or - did you do all four shackles?
If you only did two, like just the rear ones, then you will only see half the amount of drop (ie, 1" - which might be harder to notice). K

Re: New shackles, No change?
Hmm...I did just change out one shackle since I was in a hurry. Perhaps changing out the other ones will bring it down to where I want it. I just put on 3" spindles and want to keep the staggered look. I will try and put the other shackle on and post the results.

I agree check the shocks man or the bump stops too its possible.. if they are like most there is a 1'' hole and a 2'' hole for adjustment. so you might be in the 1'' hole Last edited by cobb; 08-25-2009 at 01:31 PM. |

Re: New shackles, No change?
I got the other shackle on and I think I found the problem. I had notched the crossmember for the bed, but there was just a little piece of metal hanging up. I jumped up and down on the bed to clear it up . Anyway, here are some before and after pics. Very subtle, but I really like it. I wanted a staggered look and believe I got it.

Cool, looks good. Glad to see that somebody can be happy with a subtle drop. (For some reason, I can't. )

I see a flip kit and some lowering springs in your future,...

Re: New shackles, No change?
Thanks guys! It's been a long time coming. I like the stance and figure I can always add hangers if I get the itch. Next is deciding whether to go with 17 or 18" wheels. Body and paint, brake upgrade, sport bumper, etc, etc, etc. I will eventually put together a build thread once it's "finished."

Re: New shackles, No change?
so you have 3 inch drop spindles and 2 inch drop shackles? i'm only curious because i have same kit from bell tech sitting in a box, and your stance is exactly what i'm after.
also, what size tires are those?

Re: New shackles, No change?
Yep, 3" DJM Spindles and 2" DJM shackles. I have hangers but will probably send them back. I don't want the truck to be level. I was thinking of using the hangers then only using the 1" holes on the shackles, but I like it the way it is. The tires are 235/75/15. I am thinking of going with 255/55/18 or 255/60/17. Time will tell. Thanks!

Re: New shackles, No change?
did you have to pull the bed to add the new shackles and notch out the bed frame rail?

Re: New shackles, No change?
I didn't pull the bed to notch the frame. It would have been easier to notch with the bed off though. Unfortunately I am a one man show when it comes to workin on my truck. I just used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. Never cut metal before this !!
