Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
Okay, my link didn't work, but just chose "sway bars and components" in the select catagory box on the left, they're $19 a pair.

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
Thanks for the link. I need to get some of those as well. But with drop spindles, do you use the stock or lowered brackets? Reason I ask is that I'm led to believe that you use everything stock with drop spindles.

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
Use the lowered, more ground clearance.

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
For spring & spindle combo drops (5-6") up front, you can mount the sway bar directly to the frame rails & skip those brackets. You gain the benefits of the sway bar w/o the interference issues.

Cool. That makes sense, and the lowered ones are much cheaper than the stock.

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
I've done all of mine that way w/no problems. Both small & big bars, mounted in Energy Suspension poly bushings/brackets (get the p/n's w/the zerk fittings so you can grease them).

Quote:
If they get dry & dirty (meaning see a bunch of miles) they can get squeaky. The Energy Suspension bushings w/the zerks are actually fluted on the bushing itself to help transfer the grease.

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
So with bags and spindles, this is the best solution and not the lowered mounts? Is there a recommendation of where to mount them on the frame?

Re: Where to buy front sway bar mounting brackets
My set-ups have consisted of cut coils w/spindles. I bolted the bar to the a-arms & used a jack to raise the center of the bar until the mounts rested solidly against the frame rails. I then marked the C/L of the holes & drilled.
I can't say 100% on the bagged installation. I swapped to a different bar & different front arms when I went through changes on my front suspension a while back & the truck never made it back on the road. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't under similar circumstances (limited/normal suspension travel). There could be an issue w/extreme travel. Best solution? That's purely subjective. I don't see the need in buying something if I don't need it. This method has worked well for me so far. I did my 68 & 74 both like this. My current build will also be done this way but it will be bagged all around. I'll get back to you on functionality then.
