In all the years I've been parting these truck I've only found 2 styles, 67-68 had the small diameter and 69-72 1/2, 3/4, and 1 tons had the style I'm selling. I'll get a measurement and let you know I think its like a 1 1/16 or 1 1/8. The larger ones some guys want came on 73 and up. If I'm wrong on this someone please show me an original that was a bigger diameter in our years, I've never seen one. Thanks Randy

RAndy, I am interested too but would like to know the diameter also. I will measure my stock 1/2 ton one, I think it is 7/8 so I am not sure there is much difference in how they work since I already have one. Let me know

I'd say its atleast a inch of not a 1 1/16 , this one came off a 72 3/4 I parted already, I hauled in a 69 3/4 the other night with the same size. the smaller 67-68 version has a little different bend in them and smaller diameter. Thanks Randy

I can verify for the "standard" sway bars on 69-72 trucks being being exactly 1 1/16. C10, C20 and C30 were all the same. We have an original 71 C20 that came with that bar, and we parted out a 1970 C30 and a 1972 C20 which used the 1 1/16 bar also. I have heard of a HD 1 1/4 being used also, but have never seen them either, a very rare option I think.

We have purchased used parts (before we got the parts trucks of course) and added sway bars to both our 1968 and our 1970, one of which we bought from Randy. They are both 1 1/16 diameter.

You can buy a nice set of 1 1/16 poly bushings from Classic Parts for less than $20, the bar and new poly bushings improve handling quite a bit. A required addition to any of these trucks !

Thanks guys, it does look like they are very simular maybe a bit heavier than mine but I will pass since I have one now. I had heard some were larger in diameter and thought that might give me some more help.
I agree they are a must have for our trucks so somebody should grab up these as they are priced right.

That is correct. The original bar was 1&1/16 (I've measured them with a caliper). The bigger bar is 1&1/4, and started to show up on the square body trucks, '73 and up. I've found two of them in the last year over at my local self-serve junkyard. Both were on mid-80's, 3/4-ton Suburbans.
