I need new headers
Can anyone recommend a good set of headers? I have an 82 C10 with a 350.
long story short; I had no choice but to roll over a speed bump yesterday and my passenger side header suffered the consequences. My headers are really rusty and weren't in great shape anyhow so I'm not too broken up about it. I don't even know what I currently have as far as brand goes. Re: I need new headers
I have been told by a couple exhaust shops that the Flowtech brand headers that Checker/O'Reiley parts stores sell, are pretty good. And, very affordable. But I have also seen some of the guys on here mention before that you have to be carefull about how tall the headers are, so you don't smash them again. And, if I remember right, some guys are running Chevelle headers?

Re: I need new headers
So I got a pair of these L&L nickel plated headers from a guy locally today, they are used but look to be in awesome shape. I have only gotten as far as getting the old headers off and cleaning up the heads for the new pair, I forgot to get gaskets so I will have to finish up tomorrow.
After getting my old headers off I discovered that they are Hedman 69090's. I will post pictures Monday of how smashed they are by the collector. |

Re: I need new headers
OK, I lied, here is a pic now. The damaged header doesn't look as bad off of the truck as it did on but I think the new unsmashed ones should help performance a bit, and they are not covered in rust.
Is anyone else running these L&L headers? I'm curious how they are since I won't know for at least a day. |

Re: I need new headers
I have a set of Hedmans on mine, been on there for 10 years now with no problems and only rust around the collector because I neglected the truck a little bit.
I'm going to fully restore mine sometime next year and expect to sandblast and repaint the Hedmans that are on it because they fit so well.

Re: I need new headers
I've got a set of Jeg's branded longtubes. They are 16-gauge construction. I haven't had an issue with leaking at all since I put them in.

Re: I need new headers
I'm running 3/4 length dynomax headers on the '78. They fit well and allow you to tuck the exhaust up so you cant see it under the truck.
I posted pics and part numbers on here when I built the motor about 5-6 years ago. I have no idea what the part number is now though....
