AC tensioner makes noise - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

ok...asking for a friend of mine. He has one of those 03 GMC with the quadsteer. What happened was his AC belt broke. It was determined that the tensioner was the problem so he replaced it and the belt. Now at 2000rpm or more the thing makes a terrible noise like it's hitting something. Anyone have any thoughts on this???

ac compressor is lockin up i see it all the time on these there is a tsb about it somewhere

don't thing that's the problem since his ac works, i crawled under and watched when he put some rpm's to it and the tensioner looks like it moves and it touching the compressor pulley....kinda hard to explain.

he copuld have the wrong belt on it but i have seen then lock up for a second and make noise but i dont know with out seeing it
