72 truck, 85 NP208 TC and shifter dilema
I have a 72 K10 with a 4 speed and NP208 from an 85 truck due to a PO's somewhat less than infinite wisdom. It also has the crappy shifter from the 85.
This piece of junk sort of (in my case) bolts to the floor and has a nasty plastic console thing that lays pathetically over it. It seems that the TC shifter should/would mount to the TC adapter, but in this case, there are no bolt holes. I've been eying a few shifters on Dodge 4x4s in it scrap yard, and bought a shifter here for a 205, that I think is actually for a 203, but there's no easy way to mount them. So after that windy introduction, does anyone have any shifter recommendations? I have searched the internet and checked on 4x4 aftermarket web sites but haven't found anything but twin stick setups, which aren't for a 208. I'm an orphan. Apuva! (the finns, if any will laugh at that) |

the shifter you have is the only one that will work unless you want to start fabricating

I sort of lost track of my own post...
I pretty much know I'll need to do some fabricating, but was hoping for suggestions for a shifter to use as a starting point. Thanks for the replies though. |

Re: 72 truck, 85 NP208 TC and shifter dilema
My truck has this same setup. I like it. It shifts smooth, and looks very stock. The first picture is the way it looked when before I blew it apart to restore it, and the second is how it looks now, showing how the mechanism mounts to the floor. I like this setup. It was installed prior to me buying it, so I had no input. I did some tweaking to the shifter rod to make it smoother, and I still need to locate a plug for the light so it will show up at night.
