Tranny on 09 Work Truck

We bought a new 09 Silverado 4.3L Auto LWB at work. Last Thursday morning, I get in it to move it out so the City can get the dumpster at work, put it in reverse and nothing, wouldn't go. Couldn't even feel it drop into reverse. I put it back in park and tried again, this time it clicked but I had to rev it up to about 3500 and it creeped back. I put it in drive and the same thing. I got it moved and took it for a test drive, with it pulled down in first, as I came to a stop the truck would studder just like a manual when you don't push the clutch in. It wouldn't die, just as the truck stopped, it would let go and act normal. It does this in all gears as it decellerates and quits just before it downshifts. The truck only has 323 miles on it. I took it in of course under warr. Got a call from the service advisor yesterday before they closed, he says it the pump assembly and GM has not released it yet and he doesn't know when they are going to. I believe it has the 4L70E tranny.

I talked to a tranny shop that I have used in the past for personal use and he says that the 4L70E (which he also told me is what comes in these trucks) has an intergrated TCM that is part of the valvebody and should be replaces as an assembly. He has come across this twice since they came out (he does the tranny work for the dealer in question when their guy is covered up or out, he was their tranny guy until he went into business for himself).

Any Opinions???

Re: Tranny on 09 Work Truck

Also, look into your state's lemon laws. There's no reason a car that's a week old with that few miles should be giving you any problems. Whatever your state's laws say I would think you could probably be able to get out of the purchase and get something that will work for you...or at least tell the dealer that.

Another example of GM using new stuff (4L70E- which I haven't heard of, yet) when their old stuff worked just fine. Good luck.

Re: Tranny on 09 Work Truck

The state lemon laws take a few visits to actually claim. I'm not sweatin' really just curious if anyone with a newer body style Silverado has had any similar issues. The truck belong to the hospital I work for, so it was paid for up front. From what I'm told the 4L70E is a newer version of the 4L65E. I don't know what the differences are. There all also 6L70E, 80E and 90E 6 speed trannies also. Supposedly, the 4L70E has some of the common upgrades that were done to the 60/65E's and some lightened rotating parts to help with the higher rpms of the LS engines.

Re: Tranny on 09 Work Truck

like i said make them give you a truck to drive till they fix yours or they can give you a truck or something to that extent i would call them up and ask them what they are going to do to fix it.

Re: Tranny on 09 Work Truck

The service advisor called me again today and gave me an update. He said the pump assy has been shipped and should be here at the end of the week. He also clarified the comment about the pump not being released. Actually the pump is not an "AC Delco" part yet and not available through the normal avenues. It had to come from GM or a factory or something. Anyway, its on its way and should be ready to go at the beginning of next week.
