I am getting to the point to order my rims and tires and would like to know some tried and true sizes and backspacings. Thinking about running 7-8 inch wide up front and 9.5-12 in the rear. Probably looking at 17 to 18 inch rim size. Also what tire sizes work? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

im at that point too. My problem is that I have a Scotts hot rod shop front IFS with McCaugheys dropped spindle and 13" disk brake kit. The back I have pretty much figured out. We did a 3" mini tub on the bed and wheel wells. So the back we will run a 20X12 with 8.5 back spacing. The front will be, If I have measured right 18X8 with 4.5 backspacing. Foose Injector is the wheel chosen for this truck.

Which year rearend?
Lowered?
Disc brake conversion?

It might be easier and safer to get out the tape measure and look at your own truck,... before you make a mi$take with somone elses set-up.

The two different rearend widths is the kicker.
You have to know exactly what you are dealing with.
A bare rim with a "known" backspacing is the best rim to measure off of.

No matter what diameter,... I like an 8" rim with a 5.25" bs or a 8.5" rim with a 5.750" bs up front.

The rear depends on the rearend.
Go measure.

It's a 72 LWB with the original 12 bolt rearend. I have drop spindles in the front and 4" drop springs in the rear.

Mine's pretty close to your setup. In the rear, it has the wider '72 style rearend, 17x9.5 wheels with 5.25 backspace and 275/50 tires. That is about as much backspace as I can run with that tire, with about 1/2" clearance between the tire and wheel tub. It has 4" drop springs.
Up front I have stock springs and 2.5" drop spindles. The wheels are 17x8, with 5" backspace, and 255/50 tires.

6 luggers are a whole different ball game because the front spindles are inset more, and most have the narrow rearend.
