One Owner '72 Super at a show w/ salesman!
I went down to a local show this weekend at an event called Frisco Festival here in Rogers, AR. There was a nice '72 Cheyenne Super longbed in my favorite blue/white so of course I had to chat with the owner.
He bought the truck new in '72 about one block from where we were standing at a dealership that is long since closed. He used it on the farm, hauled livestock, hay, bricks, and whatever in the bed. In '87 he completely restored it using NOS GM parts and sent the drivetrain to Detroit to be remanufactured by GM. He's driven it 11,000 miles since then. Cool story, but then he mentioned that the salesman had just walked by and saw his name on the bill of sale which is framed under the hood. They chatted for awhile and he left right before I got there...! I wish I could have gotten a picture of those two for the Owner (that's him on the left). Pretty cool, huh?

That one looks like it might just be better than the day he originally bought it. Sweet truck and quite a story behind it.

Super nice truck!! I dont even mind the whitewalls myself. It just makes it better when you know the stories behind it.

Are those the orignal style wheels? I didn't think the rallys came until later. Seems odd that he would have everything else absoulutly perfect and then have the wrong wheels on it. Maybe I am the one who is wrong...

I noticed those too....and I also noticed the red hazard lights switch on the column, and the custom autosound radio in the dash.

Yeah I guess "absoulutly perfect" was a bit of an overstatement and a little pre-mature. I also noticed the radio but not the hazard switch.

The cover on the radiator is a homemade job to keep bugs out of it. I think the non-original stuff was added in '87 in tradition with what was cool at the time. He also had a dealer-installed brake controller...I think the radio is vintage 2-knob from the 80's. The undercarriage was very clean, he told me that once a year he lifts the whole front end of the truck (not sure how?) and washes it's belly. Said he didn't do it this year but not why, my guess that he just doesn't get around as good anymore. Oh yeah, he paid $600 for the seatcover in '87!
