SO I WANTED TO MAKE USE OF IT FOR NOW IF I GOT THE TRUCK .. LATER I CAN GO ALL CHEVY , I WASN'T SURE WHAT CHANGES I WOULD NEED TO MAKE SO IT WILL WORK .. |

Re: 82 Chevrolet Diesel Conversion Question ..
I have a 79 that was converted. You will have to use the bottom holes for motor mounts ,the fuel tanks will have to be drained and flushed. Use the small fuel line as a fuel return, the olds pump has three lines. Just tag all your wires, and good luck. By the way i just took out the olds and am putting in a 350.

Re: 82 Chevrolet Diesel Conversion Question ..
If it's an 82 and that's the original engine, it isn't a 350.
82 was the first year of the 6.2 diesel. It has nothing to do with an Olds 350 and has a different transmission mounting pattern. The 6.2 diesel is much closer to a Chevy 350, not in construction, just in engine and transmission mount locations. If the truck really has the Olds Diesel, is it an 81?

Re: 82 Chevrolet Diesel Conversion Question ..
I did that conversion too. Mine is a 1984 and had the 6,2 Diesel with TH 700.
I have put in a Chevy 305 Small Block with TH350 tranny and a different driveshaft with 12 bolt axle out of a 1980 C10. I got rid of that hydroboost system and installed the brake booster and brake cylinder from the 1980 c10 as well. It was pretty easy - ahh - I had to use a different type of transmission crossmenber as well - the orginal didn`t fit for a TH350 !! Rob

Re: 82 Chevrolet Diesel Conversion Question ..
Why in the world would you convert it from diesel to gas?

In the progress of the frameoff resto i did i decided to go and put a smallblock 350 gasengine in because of the looks and easier and cheaper maintenance! With the gasprices these days i would change back but would use a 6.5 liter diesel with turbo! Since my truck is more hobby to me i´d like to insall a LS gasengine! The swap from diesel to gas isn´t to complicated because you need less wiring and have more room in the enginecompartment! Volker

Re: 82 Chevrolet Diesel Conversion Question ..
If the tranny has the Olds bolt pattern, I think it would be bad ass to put a 455 in it. alot of people would think it was just a big block, but for those of use who know...
