1967 c10 shortbed

I thought I would share my truck with you guys. It was backed in our garage for 20 some years. I also have a few questions.
Truck is all original, well except for the wheels. 292, 3 on the tree. 30,000 miles
The first two pictures are what the truck looks like now and the last one is a photoshop of what I'm going for. I put a lot of thought into rebuilding the 292, but figured it would be much cheaper to get 400+ hp out of a small block. Also looking to lower ~2", disc brakes, and a new paint job (same color).

Now my question is, im not sure if you can see it but the rear tire/axle is not centered in the wheel well. Can this be fixed/ has anyone ever did this?

Re: 1967 c10 shortbed

I'm probably going to show my age, but the larger rollers that get installed on this style of truck doesn't always complement the vehicle. I'm an old skool kinda guy who doesn't mind some bling but it's gotta be on the right vehicle.

Now, if you are one of those people who like the look, great. I'm just expressing my opinion.

If this was my truck, I'd be going for something different. I like big-n-littles and a rake to the front which exaggerates the tire differences.

But, you have a nice-looking truck and knowing the history of it is just peachy! Whatever you decide to do to it is going to be just what you want to do and what you like. It's your truck. The aftermarket industry exists because individuals like you and me have tastes that differ. Those differing tastes are what helps keep the hobby alive!

I would just drive it.Put some 15 in wheels on it and enjoy.I would keep the 292 even the three on the tree.If you want a hot rod, build on another truck without the history and low miles.JMHO

Re: 1967 c10 shortbed

Nice truck! I would remove the body and build the chassis the way you want. Then put the original body back on. No paint work just leave it as it is. If you use bolt on items and save the original stuff than it can always go back stock.

Re: 1967 c10 shortbed

cool history... up to you and what you want to do with it...

ask yourself, would the original owner (dad/grandad?) be ticked to see it changed? or would they enjoy your originality?

Re: 1967 c10 shortbed

Yea I know what all of you are talking about with the wheels, but we had them laying around and said "what the hell". The 292 runs but I believe the block is cracked, oil leaking from just about everywhere and I want more power for the least amount of money. (That 606 Monster big block doesn't look too bad :p) But I will always keep the original parts and know it can be put back the same way it was in 1967.

The paint looks way better in the pictures than it really is, and on the other side it was sideswiped, so I due plan on getting the body work done and repainted.

Now after have the wheels on the truck for a few months, they did grow a little more on me.
