Need some help/advice
Ok heres a little background, Im 15 and a sophmore in highschool. My dad pretty much gave me this truck ( a 69 gmc 3/4 ton)... But with a catch, the doors havent been locked in at least a decade. The Drivers side locks from the inside but the key is stuck. the passenger side wont lock from the inside but the key is free but wont turn to the lock side. I want a drivers side door because the window is stuck and i really dont want to have to take the tracks and everything out. I think i need a passenger side door because its rotted out where the bottom door panel screws are. Another problem which i think many share with me. I have a verrry limited budget seeing how i race go karts too. And advice on what would be the easiest/ cheapest route. I would really love to restore the truck adventually but for now i just need something to get me to school. Oh and im a gearhead so you really dont have to spell everything out for me.
You may have seen this truck on here but probably not |

Re: Need some help/advice
Just replace the door locks. It's easy enough to do and it's reasonably cheap. As far as the stuck window goes, pull the door panel and spray wd-40 or similar product into the regulator and onto the rollers in the tracks. Just work it back and forth with a helping hand on the glass. There is a good chance it will free up and be usable again.
You can shop for doors later. BTW, Lockdoc can probably fix you up for the locks, and very possibly the doors, and he's fairly close to you.

Good lookin truck, yeah new locks are prob your best bet, you may be able to take your current locks to a smith to clean and re pin them and get new keys,y locksmith doesn't charge much to do it. Hgs is right for the windows, maybe try pb blaster, I've had more success with it than wd40.

Re: Need some help/advice
Look at the window regulator when you have the door panel off.It may have a bad bearing in it and be hung up causing it not to turn.If that's the case you will need a new regulator. The drivers window is usually shot because that window gets operated way more than the other.

Re: Need some help/advice
You need to remove the door panel and remove the entire lock-latch assembly. Then give it a good cleanning. Then lube it all real good with white lithium grease ( spray is best ) then reasemble everything. Its just froze up because it hasnt been used. You wont have to buy anything

There are a ton of board members in your area. You may check with them to see if they have solid doors.
Here are a couple: Lockdoc (Leon) http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...er.php?u=25924 Bob 68327 (Bob) http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...er.php?u=32759
