Question Help! What color should I paint my suburban.

I have a 1969 Suburban I currently have at the body shop. I changed out the front in with a 1968 Model. I added some 20” wheels with all terrain tires. I also lowered it just a little it was too tall for my wife and kids. I was thinking of going Flat Black from the front grill all the way back. Then paint the side a different color. We are having trouble picking out what color it’s going to be. It’s for my wife and she does not want something to flashy, or custom. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What was the original color? Interior?

I vote original color.

I like just about all of the flavors of color our trucks had back then, so going that route is a sure bet to please just about anyone.

Re: Help! What color should I paint my suburban.

The original color is hugger orange. I took the front clip and all the doors off the 68 to use them on my 69. The parts of the 68 are the aqua blue color. The interior we are hoping to find leather seats of a 1999-2003 suburban. I think those seats are the ones with the seat belts build in. I love hugger orange, but my wife thinks it’s a little too loud for her. Thanks for the comments.

Aqua blue is nice color. Goes very well with tan interior.

Frizzle, what color are you going with your Tahoe? If you ever get tired of your Tahoe just let me know k. My wife loves what you did to your suburban. I was just looking at your avatar and basically that’s kind of the way I want to paint the suburban.

Still a toss up between the something close to the blue in the rendering on the first page of the Tahoe thread or the same scheme with red instead of blue. Possibly Ferrari or Victory red. The white top and bottom are there for sure. I like the white pearl I recently saw on a Toyota Sequoia or the Lexus ISF starfire pearl:

That’s a nice color! I was thinking Black then maybe gold mist on the side. Or all Gold Mist? don't know yet.

example:

The gold mist is very nice. High metallic/pearl content probably and thus not old school factory look. I personally prefer older cars with the factory correct colors, maybe not that car's original color, but factory. It helps your mind reconcile that the complete truck or car is original.
Alternatively, some people like an old vehicle with a snazzy new twist. That may be what you are after?

The 67-72 burbs look awesome in the Hawaiian blue with white contrast and the factory red with white contrast. If I wasn't so adament about keeping my 72 burb all original I would definately be going with one of these color combos.

Re: Help! What color should I paint my suburban.

your silver/blk is what I'm doing with my burb. I'm planning to go with the two tone "truck" pattern. just trying to figure out how to blend the front. (67 front clip)

any chance you could pm me digital pics of of your Burb?

thx,
Al.

Re: Help! What color should I paint my suburban.

Al, I found those pictures on the net. I was just using them as an example. My front clip is off a 68 suburban. I'm thinking of going all black from the front grill to the back. Then painting the side silver or the gold mist. I hope member DUTCHMAN does not mind me using he's suburban as an example. I want to use the same color pattern. Just still not sure on the actual colors to use.

The chevelle on this month's super chevy mag cover would look nice. Ice blue?

Not to get off track from the original question but if he decides to go original, how/where will he be able to get the exact original color? Do they still make it? and can you get it?
