My first build...71' Chevy C20 3/4ton Custom Camper

It's official. I picked up my new project, and I love it already. It is a solid runner, and the engine and trans seem great (350/th400). I will be needing much advice and help with this one, as it if my frist truck build. I will drive it in the winter (keeping the impala in the garage) and probably wont lower it because we get a ton of snow, and it wouldnt be practial. So..where will I go from here? Lets find out. These are pics of my truck from day one.
Stay tuned and enjoy! Oh, those are leaves on the floorboard, looks like rust.

Re: My first build...71' Chevy C20 3/4ton Camper Special

So I was able to find some doors at the local "u pull it" off a 67, and they were in great shape...compared to mine. I have been sanding and smoothing these out and I hope to get them in primer today. I pulled off the big mirror brackets and have a nice new set of sport mirrors to go on them. I also bought a new set of window seals, which replace the badly cracked and worn current ones.

Next on the list is the engine. I got ahold of a nice 350, had the 991 heads redone, and put in a RV cam. Had it all worked and assembled and I am about to drop it in. I am almost done with final assembly. I put on some old valve covers and a stock manifold to paint. I have a new performer intake, my old and trusted quadrajet carb, chrome valve covers and air cleaner ready to go on!

I also did a little work on the interior. I pulled the gauge bezel and gave it a nice cleaning and put a new coat of black paint on it. I also painted the entire interior black, which is a great improvement in looks (to me).

The doors turned out nice too. They aren't perfect, but then again, I am not building a show truck. I put them in a flat black, but I am having thoughts about painting this truck blue this summer. I got all the trim and mirror holes filled and smoothed out.

Got the engine dropped in. Decided to put a 600 cfm edelbrock instead of the quadrajet. Also, got the doors on!

So I sanded her down and rolled on a coat of rustoleum gloss white paint. I have also switched the wheels, and it is finally coming along nicely!

Looking good! I'm painting my truck with rustoleum too but I'm doing Satin black.
