New Member - Question

Hello from Tempe, Arizona.

I've been looking at this forum for about two months now. There is a bunch of great information but a majority of my time is spent drooling over the pictures of your trucks.

My truck is a 71 Cheyenne, K10, shortbed. It's blue and white and looks just like 71blksuper4x4 dad's shortened K20, except for the rust in my rocker panels. The truck currently has an inch and a half Soft Ride lift with 32x11.50x15 BFG ATs. I've owned it for almost 12 years and I'm planning on a frame off restoration as soon as I finish my 78 F**D Bronco (sorry, I like them too). I will post pics as soon as I take some digitals of the truck.

The question I've got is about the factory cab running lights. Were they an available option on the K10/C10 trucks? I have them on mine and the only other trucks I've seen them on have been 3/4 and 1 ton work type trucks.

Welcome to the board! A buddy has a 71 GMC 1/2 ton with cab running lights, I'm pretty sure they are factory.

Welcome from Southern Oregon! I used to live in Mesa and I miss your weather this time of year. Sorry, I can't answer your question but someone here will.

I have seen factory cab running lights on many junkyard trucks, but only on 3/4 and 1 ton models. I'm not sure if they were avialable on the 1/2 ton trucks. The top of the cab is different on cab light trucks. There are little (maybe 2"x3"?) flat mounting spots for the lights, and holes that go into the cab. Unless you want to swap cabs, i would just buy a set of aftermarket lights.

I just seen a 2wd 1/2 ton in a junkyard with lights on the roof, but I don't know if they were factory.

cab clearance lights

I have had 2 1/2 ton trucks that came with the pod style clearance lights factory. They were listed as and option on the glove box door .

I have seen them listed without the raised pads myself. Also seen them listed on a 1/2 ton.
