axle swap question?

Will the rear axles out of my 70 1/2t 6lug 12bolt swap out with a 12 bolt 5lug axles? I'm sure there is more to it then just swapping them but just wondering if they would likely interchange for a easy 5 lug conversion.

Re: axle swap question?

70 could have had either the narrow 67-69 rear or wider 71-72 style. As long as you have the wider rear, the 5 lug axles should be a direct swap.

Re: axle swap question?

Thats what I was afraid of. I was wondering if there might be a diff axle length. Jsmith, I know that changing axle aren't going to give you a different ratio. Changing ring and pinion is going to give you diff ratio's.

Re: axle swap question?

Just measure and you will know, our 70 has the wider one, yours may too.
