Photos of the progress on my '66 LWB, BBW, Custom Cab. Bought it in the spring of '08. The original 283 was in pieces in the bed. 3 speed tranny was in process of being switched to floor shift by PO. Pretty solid overall. My plans were to add PB and PS and switch to 350TH. I kicked around the idea of changing motors, but have always liked the 283, so just had it rebuilt. "RV" cam, .030 over, old Weiand intake and Edelbrock 1405.

What it looked like when I first got it.

I got a good deal on an instrument dash at a swap meet and cleaned it up.

Was able to score a tilt column from a '64 Impala for ZERO dollars, cleaned it up and added a Dino mahogany wheel that I got off Ebay. Tilt and turn signal levers are off of a 1964 Jeep Wagoneer.

The 283 is sitting in there...almost ready to fire up.

Have to finish hooking up the transmission, putting on some temporary exhaust and putting the starter on......

Inspiring man, inspiring. If I could ask, why did you repair the inner fenders instead of just get new ones? Or don't the inner fenders that you can get from say LMC, address that area? I'm asking b/c I have rot there too.

Thanks for the kind words. The main things on the inner fenders was cost and time. This is going to be a daily driver and basically didn't want to spend the extra $$ and chose not to tear it down further. I really wasn't going to paint the engine compartment at first either, but my buddy who is doing the body work talked me into it. Will get it on the road for now and then probably paint the body next year...

Adding PB, keeping drums for now, new paint- red with an ivory/pearl trim, removing the PO installed steel bed floor and putting it back wood (cherry), have rallye wheels with RWL Tiger Paws 255/70/15.

You know after I looked at it again, How do you have the lines ran for the trans cooler, Looks like it's going to the radiator looped to the cooler, but not to the trans. If you can show some insite.

Fluid goes from the trans to the radiator on the pass side-thru the radiator- looped to the cooler on the driver's side- thru the cooler- then back to the 350TH.

Got the braided lines from Jeg's.

The cooler I bought at a swap meet for $30.00. I made a couple of brackets from some angle to mount it under the radiator behind the bumper. I had to buy two more fittings to be able to plumb the cooler. I got those at a local speed shop and were made by Earl's Plumbing. Jegs has them too.

The kit has 20 ft of hose and I probably had 4 ft or so left over. I thought about bending lines, but the frustration level is much less this way, I like the look and they lay real nice on the frame in my opionion.
