Ive been lookin at gettin a square body truck to have as a parts runny. Something thats failry reliable, and easy to get parts for.
Im wanting something different. I couldnt care less about performance on this truck, i just want the exhaust as quiet as i can get it.
For some reason i think i have heard of people running dual "diesel" mufflers.
Any suggestions?

btw. I have "dyno max super turbo" on my malibu, and they are a little too loud for what im planning. I expect a few people to respond with a "turbo" muffler.

The truck would have a 2 inch drop, flat brown with a door sign.

ya, just go to the auto store and get a "stock" muffler and run the pipes all the way to the back and call it good. http://shop.oreillyauto.com/productd...ype=15&PTSet=A

You either have to go stock or fabricate something. You can make a engine really quiet but it won't run very well with all the back pressure. If your planning on some type of sleeper truck, your going to need some flow out of the pipes---you need to size the accordingly to the engine in use.

A trick i have used over the years, run a good sized single pipe system, at the very end, use a cutout that goes to a smaller pipe. The setup i used was a 4" system and it had a little bitty 2.5" pipe after the cut out. Close the cutout and it all quiets down going through that pipe. Good for street use, open it up at the track ---or to annoy the neighbors.

You can also run two mufflers on a pipe, say one in the stock location and one before the end of the truck.

Just remember, the bigger the pipe, the louder its going to be. The smaller the pipe, the quieter it will be. But like i said earlier, it must be sized correctly or a loss in power will occur.

LOL, you can have my mufflers after I cut them off. First thing I said when I got my truck was "this thing is too quiet"...

Just use factory exhaust manifolds, factory mufflers and the factory tube diameter (2-2.25"), length and routing.

A nice and quiet setup is good choice. Walker produces a flow quiet muffler its probably the lowest db muffler ive heard. If you were to go with dual walkers and exit out the back in sure you would be very happy with the lack of sound.

Get two stock mufflers off the newer half ton trucks. They are HUGE. You should be able to get them for free from an exhaust shop. A single muffler is probably restrictive, but two in a true dual setup might not be bad ? Running an H pipe will also help.

I will probably run cutouts just for fun.
I have them on my malibu, and they are really fun. With the super turbo's it really really hides the sound to an untrained ear (it has a huge solid roller cam)

I will most likely go the stock muffler route, off a newer truck. I just want something thats comfortable to cruise in.
