Re: anyone running 3x2, 6 pack

I'am building a long rod 400sbc for my truck now, heres the spec's.
.040 over block
400 crank
5.7 rods
11 to 1 compression
dart aluminum heads, big valves
hei dist.
balanced-clearenced
3 rochester 2bbls on edelbrock aluminum manifod (all polished )
mild cam ( just enough to sound good and not kill bottom end torque 3.73 gears (275/60r15 rear tires )
400 turbo with g/v o.d. unit & very mild stall converter
vette ram horns and 2 1/2" exhaust, x pipe, flow masters

p.s.
i can post pic,s. of my 3x2bbl setup if you need to see it for something. i had CHARLIE PRICE IN FLORIDA RBUILD THEM FOR ME. I "DONT " RECOMEND HIM BECAUSE IT TOOK HIM ALMOST 2 YEARS AND BOY IS HE EXPENSIVE....

Re: anyone running 3x2, 6 pack

thanks for the info.
I'm thinking about running the set-up on my 327 when I get around to building it, but I've been looking around at summit and jegs and their combos are like 1800 bucks. Do you know anywhere you can get parts for it at a decent price?

Re: anyone running 3x2, 6 pack

ALSO you,d be better off going 383 or 400 sbc because 3x2bbl's is alot of cfm's. when they came out it was on hi-compression engine andin the times of great gas so to make up for it all you need to go big cubic inches as you can and as hi as compression as you can get by with. thats why i went with aluminum heads and 11-1 compression. i want all 3 carbs to work not just the center one as most people now days have it.

Re: anyone running 3x2, 6 pack

I ran one for years on my '57 2dr ht back in the 80's. Had it on a 350, 11.5:1 pistons, 525 lift cam with 305 gross dur, 264 @ .050 or there abouts. I loved it. Kept it all these years and am in the process of getting it ready to put on the 327 in my '64. Mine is a 1962-64 vintage edelbrock (they only made it those 3 years) with adaptors to accept the carbs from a 389 pontiac. here's a pic of when I dug it out of the shed and after a bit of work. It's almost ready, just a few things to finish up.

Are you sure about that HEI. Won't even come close to fittin' behind the rear carb on mine. I ran an Accel dual point back in the day and it just barely fit. I'm planning to put a pertronics electronic upgrade in my old Accel dist.
