Re: Local car show pics
It was in Newport. A different sponsor had a bigger event last week at the Newport park with 100+ cars. My truck wasn't ready so I missed that one, but one of the participants said it a great show but was pretty cold.
The event today got bumped from the park apparently due to a scheduling conflict, so it was held at the middle school. I've grown to find the smaller local events more enjoyable than the big national events. More local cars usually turn out looking for a good time with cars, rather than high dollar investments on display for magazine competition. |

The flat black is a bit tricky, it's needs to be sprayed on a test panel before commiting to the whole paint job. If thinned with acetone, it will come out primer flat. If mixed with high end slow dry acrylic enamel reducer it comes out almost gloss, I mean real shiny semi-gloss. Standard temp acrylic reducer makes it come out like mine. The key is to come up with the blend you like, then mix all the paint you'll need at the same time so you don't have to remix during the shoot. I ran out near the end and had to remix more paint. I didn't get the ratio correct and the bed/rear fenders came out too shiny, requiring another coat. Including the back half reshoot and the quart I spilled all over the rear fender I used 6 quarts of paint, so it actually needed 5 quarts for the whole job. |
