and its cuz of my own stupidity lol well it turned out just one of my brake pads upfront went bad and it scratched up the rotor so i was thinking whats the worse that could happen my truck stops just fine and the rotor is already damaged so i ignored it and went out to my friends house and on the way back i guess the caliper piston got over extended and leaked almost all my brake fluid out....witch means no brakes so im coming up on a high way full of log trucks and such without the abilty to stop....so i do what any man would do i light up a cigarette and buckled my seat belt....and while in a fight of cuss words i remembered oh dang emergence brake lol so it saved my but also i blew threw 3 stop signs and no ticket lol here is a pic of my truck on the tow truck lol and slo one of my rotor before the trip

Re: i almost died
I hope your not looking for any sympathy here. You could have killed yourself, along with innocent people as well.
So how much was the ride home? Was it cheaper than fixing your brakes like we told you to a few weeks ago?

Re: i almost died
Despite the free towing that doesn't make it a free ride. You have now destroyed your rotors, and probably your calipers. You still put yourself and others at risk.
I hope the stains in your pants will serve as a wake up call. Please read my sig for a very approatiate message.

I am incredibly ignorant and my post was deleted because of my poor choice of words and veiled curse words denoted by asterisks. Hopefully the moderator , Old Rusty C10 , who deleted my drivel has also convinced the staff here to give me a vacation while i learn some class and cooth

Re: i almost died
Driving a known unsafe vehicle is just flat out idiotic. I think the others have summed it up well enough that I don't have anymore comments...

Re: i almost died
Guys please dont start a hate fest, where we have to actually yell n stuff
op.. your name, your choice, deal with the fallout due to it or read in feedback how to change your name. Only thing I will say.. just learn from your mistake. I drive my kids all over daily for activities and school etc. I use every means possible to protect them when I do. The only thing I can not do, is protect them from folks who dont care like this. Think about the what ifs for a while... what if a kid ran in the road and I could not stop. What if I hit the logging truck just right and it rolled.. someone may lose a dad or mom... what if you rear ended a family and they went off the side of the road... There are many other things that could happen.. but if you think about the what ifs for a while, and not the oh man I need to work on my truck now... you might be less likely to do something like this again. |

Re: i almost died
Are we really arguring on this forum. I mean, yes driving with unsafe equipment isn't really the greastest idea in the world, and yes poke the smot may have made a mistake, but are we really blowing it out of proportion? Obvisouly no one was hurt thank the lord, but maybe where going overboard with this. It kinda makes this forum unenjoyable if were just gonna put people down. Where here to talk about one of the best things in life, Square bodys! and hell yes i love this forum and my truck. just my .02 cents. Sorry about the novel. lol

Re: i almost died
Same thing happened to me on the tappan zee bridge in new york. You wouldn't believe how many twists and turns are on the merrit parkway when you don't have brakes. lol Luckily my truck has a manual trans. I think driving with no brakes is no worse than talking on the cell phone while driving.

Very timely subject. Friday around noon I got a call from my daughter in tears hyperventilating telling me she'd been in a wreck and her Jeep Grand Cherokee had flipped. Not a call ANY parent wants to ever get. When I get to the accident scene, my daughter's Jeep is upside down, no glass, impacted against trees. The cause? Some bozo not paying attention tried to hit the brakes to avoid running into someone, realized he wasn't going to stop and instead of running into the back of someone, he forced my daughter off the interstate. We're just lucky she survived and two people stopped to pull her out of it. Oh yeah the dipchit who caused it just watched others get her out. Maybe he too was just wondering about the twists and turns in a road with no brakes. Not stopping when you KNOW your brakes are flucked is just plain idiotic. Re: i almost died
And you're proud of that? Absolutely mindboggling. It's one thing driving along backroads to "limp" home, but come on, the Tappan Zee and the Merrit Pkwy. And you had a cowcatcher to protect you......
