Cheap HID Headlights
Any thoughts on these? What would it take to run them in one of our trucks? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...372410346.html

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
Find H4 Halogen conversion light buckets, insert HID bulb, blind anyone with in a 7 mile range of your front bumper.
I would not do it. Our old headlight buckets are not designed to aim light down to the ground properly for HIDs. You'd be pissing off a lot of drivers. |

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
Thanks for the input, saves me some money. It's not like I drive the truck at night that often.

Just remember you get what you pay for. If they are made in china , cheap becomes expensive and will leave you frustrated.

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
Mudbug- yes you can wire in a switch that will keep the low beams on, But, their fairly useless with the high beems on. With the H4 conversion buckets, high beams are like 7" spot lights.

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on putting HID lamps in an H4 housing. HID's need to be focused just right and have a reflector that cuts off the beam at the top.....an H4 conversion bucket just won't do that. If you really want HID's check these out.
They're a bit pricey @ $400 each, but will give you the best forward lighting available.

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
I know on my 05 GMC that you can have the low beams and high beams on at the same time, cast a whole lot more light both up close and far out.Glad to hear the 7" H4s are like spot lights, makes it a bit easier to see cops and critters in the road.We got a city cop that likes to think he's hiding at a base of a bridge with his lights off. High beams really piss him off.hehe

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
I can get a picture tonight for you guys. I love the high beams, it's rediculous the difference. Low beams are better than sealed beams (EX: Friends' 67 Stang and 75 Camaro), they reach out about 4-6 seconds (at 50 mph) ahead of the car depending how dark it is.

What do you use the little yellow lights in your headlights for?

Re: Cheap HID Headlights
I drive at night all the time and run an H-4 light that is made in India. It isn't quite a good as a Cibie but it throws a lot of light down the road and I haven't had anyone hit the brights on me to tell me my low beams are too bright or high even though they are 55 watt. I run the 55/100 white bulbs and really like the light pattern. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-H60...Q5fAccessories and not that I have mentioned them too many times I won't again but having tried about four sets of lights that I didn't like I have to say that I really like these.
I've thought about putting one of those conversion kits in but haven't had the money to fritter away yet in case they don't work out. |
