Be careful. Make sure it has the right diameter hole where the transmission pilots. The ones for the SM465 and the ones for the 3-speeds are different.

SM 465 was found in 68 and newer trucks. If you have a 67 with the SM420, it has the small hole same as the 3 speeds.

2nd that..... 67 & older bells will accept a car trans(m-20/21/22 Muncie, or the B-W T-10s). The early bell was 4.683(4 11/16"), the late bell was 5.126 (5 1/8") for the center hole. best of luck. Crazy Al

Yes - all '67-'72 had "granny" 4-speeds as an option. In '67 it was the SM420 (small center hole), and '68-'72 it was the SM465 (large center hole).

After reading the above, I guess I was wrong - it depended on the year. 67-small, 68-72 large. Learn something everyday

Not all 67-72 granny 4 speeds were SM465s. Some trucks had NP435s. I have one.

Re: 6-V8 bellhousings the same?

Before we get way off in left field. The OP asked if a six cylinder bell housing will bolt up to a V8. Yes it will, if he is using the same trans from the 6 cylinder then he won't have to worry about the diameter of the hole.

x2 but I'm not sure if he's inquiring about the entire tranny or just the bell housing. He should probably clarify.
