Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
I had a friend of mine come over saturday and lay down some strips on the hood and tailgate. I'll get some better pictures tomorrow. Also continued work on my dash panel, should be finished this week.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Cool brush work.
I didn't get a darn thing done to my trucks. It rained all weekend, and I was on cal. Stayed just busy enough that I couldn't work on the 77. I did stop and look at a 86 stepper. It's not as clean as it looks, but not too bad. It could use some love.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Took an 15 hour 800 mile road trip to pick up a 86 Silverado. Couldn't be happier with the whole ordeal.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
I went to a huge family party to welcome my cousin home from 2 years in Armenia with the peace corps. He met a gal there and got married so we had a huge party to celebrate that with them. So, I got Saturday off of work for that. Then enjoyed the 2 day weekend by trying to finish up the front clip on the truck. It is almost done now, Just need to finish the wiring.

I didnt do much, i got some more money for my 83 project which is good, got a quote on the frame welding that will need to be done. today i was messing around with the whole "one leaf" idea, and the axle slipped and nailed me in the knee with the shock mount, overall a fun weekend

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Now that is funny. Gives me an idea. Maybe I should pack up the extra stuff that is in my way in the garage and move it in the house.

The previous owner is a fellow board member. And a great guy to deal with at that.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
3 beautiful days while I had the Flu.
I did get the return lines on the diesel, got the crank pulley replaced and the water pump on the plate and mounted. After 2 weeks I'm now starting to to get it back together - mostly done cleaning 30 years of dirt off the engine.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Got the 78 back on the road and drove it to a company sponsored car show on Sunday 20 miles away. No problems and it runs great. Far stronger than the stock engine was.
Finished the exhaust system mods to install the 67 C-10 headers onto the 78 K20 and to get the 2-1/2" pipes past the transfer case. Got the valve covers modified and painted, cleaned up & painted the breather, oil fill cap & air cleaner lid to match the valve covers. Found the worst looking cap & rotor I have ever seen on a running vehicle so I had to put a new cap, rotor & ignition coil onto it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=362601 Fired it up, adjusted the valves, set the timing and attempted to set the air/fuel mixtures. The old Q-Jet didn't respond to mixture screw changes and it took a full turn & a half on the idle screw just to get the more air hungry engine to idle. Still need to find the new MSD plug wires I bought for the truck and get them installed and now I need to dust off the Edelbrock carb sitting on the shelf and see if it still works. The stock Q-Jet has seen better days and I don't feel like wasting my time rebuilding it. I need to pick up a pair of Flowmaster tail pipes so I can finish the exhaust system upgrade too. |

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
I worked on Saturday. Went home to a suprise birthday party (Happy birthday to me!). Started taking parts off of the suburban I aquired a few weeks ago. Sometime sunday morning I got a cold and that ruined the rest of my weekend. Oh well.

Wow, busy guy. Like the fleetside, the drop, the wheels; they look great! Anything else I might have missed? Looks like great progress.

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Finished up ALL the wiring on the LS swap. Got the electric gas pedal modified and installed, exhaust hooked up, re-pinned the gauge cluster connector and got it installed, radiator support and radiator installed, and chopped up an old air intake I had laying around and made it work.
I'm just waiting for another O2 sensor, trans cooler fittings, the temp sending unit adapter fitting, the new gas tanks, and pressure test the fuel system and I can fire it up! Them I need to find either a clutch fan or some e-fans from a bone yard this coming Saturday and it's done!

Re: what did you get done 9/13/09 edition
Looks great.
I would look for the stock mechanical fan from one of the LSx truck's or SUV's rather than spend the money on an electric fan & get it installed and working right. |
