End of the World Rod Run.

Anyone make it out to Longbeach for the Rod run??? Few interesting tidbits. I got to drive my great grandpas original 68 jeep around for the weekend. That was fun.

Also got to see a mid year corvette do a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear burnout right before he lost control and slammed into a parked car. That parked car was a 1940 ish vehicle. Just parked minding its own business. The guy in the corvette blew 3 times the legal limit. The good news is that by the next day the members aleady had a grill, and front fender for the classic that was crushed....

For all you that do go to the rod runs notice how there are 7 million cops every year. You cant breathe without a cop walking buy... This year it was different. VERY few cops. It was nice. I told my mother how there were very few cops and her being a head member had some inside gossip. Every year the cops get a "DONATION" 'from the rod run to have extra police on patrol. Well, this year they wanted 10,000 bucks. The club told them to go pack sand. The police in return tried to deny their permit for the event. Eventually they let the permit go through and the club paid 2000 bucks. Thats why there werent any cops. The police were trying to prove a point. It was very nice out there.

The car club would of "donated" that 10k to the police department if the funds were going into a charity fund but it wasnt. The money just went towards whatever they wanted to spend on it.... Anyways... Here are some rigs and random pics...

Favorite car there. original owner. Only defect is a bite mark in the dash from when his daughter was three.

Probably one of the few GMC's i saw.
Pretty grill.

A MONSTER C10. If you look close you can see my daughter hiding underneath. LOL.

A show winner.

Twin turbos.

The ride home we sat behind this truck... Weirdest thing ever. Half car half truck.

Re: End of the World Rod Run.

WOW - that Cameo pickup is insane!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Too bad no one was there to stop the moron in the 'Vette... I saw I guy do the same thing at Heat Wave (Austin, TX - '98) in a brand new SS Camaro, got it sideways, looped it around and clobbered some guys 50k show truck... The Camaro guy almost got his ass beat to a pulp, he was LUCKY that the cops were there to save him!

I try to make this every year, but wasn't able to this year. Thanks for the pics- I love the odd as well as the fast pretty stuff!
I've posted pics before of another monster 67-72 from previous years that wasn't as pretty but just as high if not higher than that.

Re: End of the World Rod Run.

I saw a lot of nice Jeeps there. If you had a couple women in the back, I most likely noticed, but didn't see the driver.. I'm sure I saw ya cruising around there.

Nope, in the jeep at the time... At the show the car was there and they had a note on it explaining to passerbyes what had happened.

WHOLEY CHRIST that information couldnt be any more ****ing wrong. Excuse my french. I know her and her family. We arent super close, but someone you would say hi to if i saw her at the store. My mom is friends with both of them. It happened late thursday night, or early friday. I didnt dig for all the details because it was still relatively new info when i came in to town.. The random guy they are talking about was her boyfriend. They got in an arguement, she ran, he chased her down the beach, they argued, and he double tapped her in the chest with shot gun. I dont think that has **** to do with how many cops were there...OR anything to do with the rod run though. Nice try though. The rod run cops dont spend much time on the beach. Also, nothing to suprising, methanphetamins may have played a part in that....

Dont get me wrong, there were still cops there, just not 1 cop for every 10 people like most years. It was one of the better shows. Besides those two events i know of.
